The Starlit Village

Pranjal’s work often asks us to look at the familiar through a slightly distorted, folk-art lens. In 'The Starlit Village', he takes the most famous night sky in Western art history and reclaims it. The swirling cobalt and electric blue brushstrokes are familiar, but the village below is distinctly his own—a cluster of small, geometric houses with warm, glowing windows that feels more like a Mithila dot-work pattern than a Van Gogh landscape. It is a piece about the quiet magic of a small town at night, rendered with the boldness of a festival poster.

An original oil on canvas portrait piece by Pranjal (2026). This work features a dynamic, swirling night sky in deep blues and vibrant yellows, anchored by a textured, dark cypress-like form and a row of stylized village houses at the base. The piece is characterized by a rich, impasto texture that gives the oil paint a tactile, almost sculptural quality, bringing the celestial movement to life.
