The Green Mustache

In this piece, Pranjal captures the quiet intimacy of a shared glance. A figure rendered in cool blue with traditional gold hoop earrings leans toward a companion whose face is softly obscured by a cascade of red hair and a striking, textured green beard. The composition is anchored by the bold, concentric sun-burst pattern at the top—a nod to the rhythmic, repetitive lines of Mithila folk art—while the faces themselves are fractured and reassembled with a cubist sensibility. It is a study in contrast: the cool, solid blue of the skin against the warm, fiery reds and the organic, speckled greens of the foliage and the beard.

A tender, portrait-oriented acrylic on canvas by emerging Indian artist Pranjal. The work features two intimate profiles, one in deep blue and the other with a vibrant red hair and a distinct green beard, set against a backdrop of bold, concentric orange and yellow patterns. The piece blends the fine-liner precision of Madhubani folk traditions with a modern, cubist approach to portraiture.
