Behind the work

Interior Hours began as an attempt to hold a single moment of luminous light before it moved on. Worked in watercolour on paper, the surface was built slowly — layer over layer — until the sage, charcoal, ivory and sage began to speak to one another. Pranjal returns often to this feeling: the tender pause between one hour and the next, when a room seems to breathe. Nothing here is hurried. The painting asks only that you stay with it a while.
