Behind the work

The Long Threshold began as an attempt to hold a single moment of contemplative light before it moved on. Worked in acrylic on canvas, the surface was built slowly — layer over layer — until the cerulean, cerulean, ivory and ivory began to speak to one another. Pranjal returns often to this feeling: the luminous pause between one hour and the next, when a room seems to breathe. Nothing here is hurried. The painting asks only that you stay with it a while.
