Behind the work

Amber Afternoon began as an attempt to hold a single moment of restless light before it moved on. Worked in oil on canvas, the surface was built slowly — layer over layer — until the amber, cerulean, amber and cerulean began to speak to one another. Pranjal returns often to this feeling: the serene pause between one hour and the next, when a room seems to breathe. Nothing here is hurried. The painting asks only that you stay with it a while.
