Behind the work

The Long Tide began as an attempt to hold a single moment of contemplative light before it moved on. Worked in gouache on board, the surface was built slowly — layer over layer — until the violet, charcoal, ivory and violet began to speak to one another. Pranjal returns often to this feeling: the luminous pause between one hour and the next, when a room seems to breathe. Nothing here is hurried. The painting asks only that you stay with it a while.

An original portrait gouache on board from 2026, The Long Tide is a one-of-one work signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Its violet, charcoal, ivory and violet palette shifts with the light of the room it lives in — cooler at dawn, warmer as the day settles.
