The Patterned Gaze

Pranjal’s work lives at the intersection of the ancestral and the algorithmic. In 'The Patterned Gaze', a fragmented face emerges from a grid of traditional Madhubani motifs—the fish-scale, the wave, the floral grid—yet it is rendered with the sharp, unyielding precision of a fine-liner pen. It is a portrait that refuses to be singular; the subject is a composite of cultural memory, stitched together in bright, saturated blocks. It’s a piece that asks you to look closer: the more you stare, the more the geometry seems to shift, revealing new constellations of colour.

An intricate, portrait-oriented original by Pranjal, 'The Patterned Gaze' reimagines the human face through the lens of contemporary folk art. The composition is divided into a mosaic of hand-drawn textures: turquoise scales, emerald verticals, and crimson floral grids. A single, striking blue eye and a vibrant pink mouth anchor the abstract geometry, creating a focal point that feels both ancient and startlingly modern. Rendered in high-contrast ink and vibrant washes, the piece is a study in the tension between order and expression. It is a collectible work that brings the energy of the Mithila tradition into a modern, minimalist frame.
